Who is this service for?
This service is for anyone in Tasmania with a concern about the safety and wellbeing of a child. If you have concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a child, call the Advice and Referral Line now:
You can call the service as a mandatory reporter, a concerned relative, friend or neighbour, or a parent or child who needs help.
The Advice and Referral Line is a helpful first point of contact. When you call, you will be provided with:
- information and support
- referral pathways to services
- Support options for responding to the needs of children and families.
How can I access this service?
Most families who access this service are referred by someone close to them—or in the community—who feels they will benefit from support. If you feel like you could use support with your parenting skills, you can also self-refer to access the service.
Referrals to this service are made by calling the Strong Families Safe Kids Advice and Referral Line. Referrals can be made by parents, carers, extended family members, or professionals who have concerns regarding the wellbeing of children.
What will my experience look like?
When you call the Advice and Referral line:
- You will talk with someone about what is happening
- The worker will answer any questions that you have
- The worker will give you information or advice about how to manage your situation
- If needed, the worker can arrange a referral to another service which best meets your needs.
If there is a wellbeing concern for a child, the Advice and Referral Line Worker will complete an assessment and where required may refer a family to Child Safety Services for further support.
