Family Preservation and Reunification Response Program

A Victorian program

On this page:

The Family Preservation and Reunification Response Program (sometimes also called FPRR) works with families who are involved with, and referred into the program by, Child Protection.

Particularly, in situations where your children—aged anywhere between 0 and 17 years—are at risk of entering care.

The goal of the program is either preservation or reunification. The program works to preserve the family as a unit and offers supports or any goals that they may need.

We can build strong and positive relationships with children and families from different cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal people.

Where is the program delivered?

This program is delivered in Brimbank-Melton and Western Melbourne areas.

How does the program work?

The FPRR Program supports families for up to 240 hours. This involves working with families to create realistic goals and offer intensive support to assist families to address any issues they may be experiencing, including any risks to children. The program is a flexible and tailor-made service to meet the family’s specific needs and requirements.

Baptcare’s FPRR practitioner visits the family home several times a week, working to support them to build on their parenting skills to promote resilience, self-determination, and supporting skill development.

Practitioners will help families to build parenting skills. They will provide supports that address any issues you may be experiencing, or that create risks to children in the home.

The goal is to give parents skills they can rely on and build on over time.

How we work with families

Baptcare’s FPRR practitioner supports infants, children and young people living with their parents or other family members to sustain placements, or provide support towards the reunification of children to their parent’s care where appropriate.

How we work with Child Protection

Baptcare’s FPRR practitioner will have regular contact with Child Protection practitioners throughout the family’s time engaging with the program. Baptcare’s practitioner is required to inform Child Protection about incidents that place any child at risk.
