Integrated Family Services Program

A Victorian program

On this page:

Who is this program for?

Baptcare’s Integrated Family Services (IFS) program offers in-home support to families with children 0 to 18 years of age.

This program offers practical support, information, advice, and opportunities to develop skills in parenting and family functioning to vulnerable families experiencing difficulties.

The program engages with families in their homes or local communities.

How does Baptcare’s Integrated Family Services program work?

Baptcare’s Integrated Family Services (IFS) workers visit families in their own home and work alongside families to achieve their identified goals.

IFS workers can talk with an independent Aboriginal Liaison Worker or an agency worker who understands your culture and language to ensure we provide a service that meets your needs.

Would the Integrated Family Services Program benefit me?

Baptcare’s Integrated Family Services program understands that there can be a wide range of issues confronting families which may include:

  • Parenting children and adolescents
  • Financial hardship
  • Mental health issues
  • Relationship issues
  • Social isolation.

If you’re experiencing any of these issues, we may be able to assist you. The program is flexible in tailoring goals for each family, including the duration and intensity of support provided to families.

Where is this program delivered?

This program is currently delivered in Brimbank-Melton and Western Melbourne areas.

How can I access this program?

You can access this program via direct referral. All family service agencies work together to plan services to manage the needs of families in the community via the area-based Child and Family Services Alliance. Referrals are triaged via The Orange Door (TOD) to enhance families’ experience of the service system.

Referrals are made directly to:

What will happen when I access this program? What will my experience look like?

This program can change depending on your situation and what will best support your family. Some of the services may include:

  • Support to develop parenting skills: we can give you information and advice around child development, behaviour management, developing routines, time management, and household budgeting.
  • Participating in support groups: our social support groups offer practical tips and skills to help you manage the challenges of parenting.
  • Things we will do to make it easier for you to access services: we work with other service providers to promote the needs of families and improve your access to services.
  • Referrals to other service providers: depending on your needs, this could include community activities, support groups, and more.

Similarly, the length of the program will change depending on your unique situation.

This program can work with families for up to 12 months. Throughout that time, we will provide weekly or fortnightly visits to your home.

We keep your information private

We will deal with anything you tell us with respect. We will also keep your information private.

However, where a Baptcare worker has concerns in regard to the safety of a child—or children—we have a duty of care to discuss this concern with Child Protection.
