“We’re proud to create an environment that feels like home. You can see it in how happy people are and how engaged everybody is. We all love learning about each other, and celebrating everyone’s story, personality and different cultures. We can’t wait to do the same with you!”
Conveniently positioned near transport, local shops and markets, parklands, and just a stroll from the Maribyrnong River, Westhaven blends a central location with a peaceful and supportive community.

Just like Footscray—the suburb we call home—we’re proud of our vibrant diversity. Walking through the nearby Footscray Market, you’ll smell delicious Vietnamese Banh Mi, fresh South American coffee, steaming Japanese Ramen and all sorts of other delicious treats.

We’re the same on site, celebrating a wide range of cultures, personalities and supporting every member of our community to live well with purpose, in whatever way is meaningful. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you!

Living well together

We’re a thriving community at Westhaven

Everyone’s welcome here at Westhaven, and everyone’s individuality is recognised and celebrated. That’s typical of our whole approach to care: we listen to your story, your individual needs, preferences and situation. Then, we support you with the care and independence to live the way you want to, every day. Care is tailored to your needs, and we take care of the little things—and sometimes the bigger things—that make you feel at home.

Home looks and feels different for everyone. That’s especially true at Westhaven. We’re a diverse community, and we love to learn about and celebrate each other’s cultures: from Diwali to St. Patrick’s Day. Equally, we have a bustling schedule of activities and social outings suited to different preferences: from concerts and piano performances to visiting Williamstown Beach.

Live well, your way

Living well looks different for everybody. Whatever you love to do—whatever makes your day and makes life meaningful—we’re here to make it happen.

Some of the hobbies and activities we support residents with include:

  • Many people love gardening: so much so, the staff from the local Bunnings often drop by to help or give us tips. Or, where the tips are concerned, perhaps it could be the other way around?
  • Painting, arts and crafts groups: whatever your creative interest, we can help you rediscover or continue to pursue it.
  • We’re in the heartland of the Western Bulldogs AFL Team (also formerly known as Footscray), so footy tipping is always popular.
  • Music and performances: from country and western to classical piano and violin, we try to cater to everyone’s tastes.
  • Spiritual Care services take place every week. Spiritual care is important to many residents and we are proud to honour and support whatever spirituality means to you.

What's important to you?

These are some examples, but living well looks different for every person. It’s all about taking the time to understand your preferences, hobbies and passions. We’d love to chat through your favourite things to do when you visit us for a tour.

A range of delicious options every day

Choice is important in every aspect of life at Westhaven. Food is no exception. You’ll have the choice of two hot options for lunch and dinner, and sometimes three. There are fresh sandwiches and salads available for lunch and dinner, and bowls of fresh seasonal fruit you can enjoy throughout the day, every day.

Personalised dietary preferences

We have regular food focus meetings with residents to help decide the types of meals we offer. While our base menu is approved by a specialised dietitian, we adjust the menu based on your feedback, preferences and individual dietary needs.

Social dining and lounge areas

We’re a close-knit community and everyone loves a catch up. To create a more homely feel, our three-story building is divided into eight wings, so smaller groups of friends can catch up over a meal or a cuppa.

Beauty therapy salon

We all know it: when you look best, you’re much more likely to feel your best too. Plus, our beauty salon is the perfect spot for a catch up, or to relax and de-stress. There’s plenty of therapeutic benefit in beauty therapy.

Library

Reading is a great way to keep your mind sharp, to improve memory, or to just take some time and unwind. Our cosy library is warm and comfy: perfect for discovering a new read, a friendly game of chess, or just relaxing by the fireplace.

Garden area

We have some beautiful gardens on site, thanks to the talent and care of our contributing resident green thumbs. If you like to garden, it can be incredibly relaxing. Alternatively, it’s just as good to sit with friends and family and take it all in.

Chapel and activities room

Our large, spacious chapel doubles as our activities room with floor to ceiling luscious garden views and glass doors that open to the courtyard. This space is used for concerts, lifestyle activities, and special events. Faith-based services for different cultures and backgrounds are held here.

Kiosk with coffee

The smell of fresh coffee and the sound of friends or family chatting over morning or afternoon tea. You’ll find it in our on-site kiosk, a friendly environment where residents, staff, and visitors alike all love catching up.
Accommodation

A place to call your own

Every room at Westhaven is private for a single person, so your space is all your own. Each room also has a private ensuite bathroom. Most rooms have beautiful garden or courtyard views, and some look out to the Melbourne city skyline. Your room should feel like home, so we encourage you to personalise your space with your favourite photographs, paintings, or other cherished possessions. Your room will also feature:

    • electronic high/low bed
    • ensuite bathroom with built-in shower chair, high-quality fittings and non-slip floor for comfort and safety
    • bedside table and comfy chairs for visitors
    • built-in wardrobe
    • air-conditioning and cooling
    • smart TV.

Wi-fi and telephone services are available for an additional cost.

The best way to get a feel for our rooms is to visit. We’d love to have you for a tour and answer any of your questions.
